Theatre in Ashland
7/5/09    Posted 8/9/2009, Ashland, Oregon

As I mentioned, Ashland is the home of the Oregon Shakespeare Festival. At any one given time there are always at least 3 or 4 shows running. Not all of them have to be Shakespeare. I will admit I was somewhat weary about taking the kids to see this type of theatre. We love going to see plays, but is this something they would like? The woman at the box office recommended "Servant of Two Masters" which is a play from the Italian Renaissance theatre style commedia dell'arte written in 1753. I didn't believe her when she said it really was funny. I also didn't believe her when she warned of some bawdy humor. To our delight, she was right on both accounts!

The kids were on the edge of their seats in the smalll theatre in the round, and many hearty laughs were had. It was Rick's last night with us and a great early celebration of his 40th.
