We find ourselves on the way to the Grand Canyon. As the grandaddy of sites in the USA, we try to approach it casually without expectations. We decide on the North Rim, as it is less traveled and less touristy. I will say its mega proportions make it feel less accessible when we look at and hike around it. Some of the other National Parks we felt like we were really able to experience and get to know well.
Certainly spending my 42nd birthday at the Grand Canyon on this Grand Journey was picture perfect. Add to it our luck at driving in to find one RV space available due to a cancellation (lodge and campground reservations usually book up a year or two in advance), and we were all feeling very good.
